In the mountains above the buzzing towns of the Amalfi Coast, sits Ravello. A charming town with no cars, and beautiful scenic streets. You get the gorgeous views and scenery of the Amalfi coast but with a much calmer and more enjoyable atmosphere. Ravello has to be one of my favorite places in all of Italy. It is a luxury tourist destination that is filled with incredible shops, restaurants, and five-star hotels. This Ravello guide is composed of all of the best places in this Italian paradise.
Where to Stay in Ravello:
I stayed at Villa Maria, it was a lovely hotel with amazing views and a great breakfast. The staff was incredible and they have a sister hotel down the street where you can go swimming.
Another great hotel in Ravello is Palazzo Avino. This is the most beautiful hotel in Ravello with incredible amenities as well as a Michelin Star restaurant. Walking into this hotel feels like you are in a movie. Everything about it is perfect, from the thoughtful decor to the impeccable service.
Ravello’s Best Restaurants:
Ravello is home to some incredible restaurants. The best pizza I have had in all of Italy is from Mimi’s. It is a laid-back restaurant that offers a wide variety of different pizzas as well as other dishes. You can tell from the first bite that they use the freshest and highest quality ingredients. I am dreaming of the day that I get to go back and get some more of this pizza.
Il Flauto di Pan is another unforgettable dining experience that I had in Ravello. We went with the tasting menu + wine pairing and the food was unforgettable as well as the impeccable service and atmosphere. If you go to this restaurant come around 30 minutes before your reservation to walk around the stunning Villa Cimbrone. The gardens are breathtaking as well as there are beautiful statues and great places to take photos.
Palazzo Avino is a fantastic place for aperitivo. You get to enjoy your drinks with beautiful ocean views. The next time that I am in Ravello I will undoubtedly be going to their restaurant Rossellinis as well as checking out the other dining options.
Where to Shop in Ravello:
The shopping in Ravello is some of the best in Italy. Local stores are carefully curated to their stylish clientele. If you are in Ravello you have to go to Bottega D’ago. Everything is handmade by the owner. They sell clothing, bags, scarves, and hats. When you go in she has a selection of basics (dresses, pants, shorts, and tops) that you can select from and the owner will tailor it specifically to you. She uses incredible materials and her designs are timeless.
Another must-visit is Via Dei Rufolo 22, they carry men’s and women’s items from incredible brands as well as having their own products. You can tell that everything in the store has been carefully hand-picked. The owner is also so kind and loves talking to tourists visiting Ravello.
My last shopping recommendation for Ravello is The Pink Closet. This women’s boutique is an absolute must. They have a selection of super fun items and the whole store is designed beautifully.
Ravello Guide on What to Do:
Besides spending your day eating and shopping, scheduling a private walking tour is a great way to spend the afternoon in Ravello. You get to learn about the history of the charming town in a one-on-one setting. Private tours are also great because you can customize them to your own taste. If you are not going to eat at one of Villa Cimbrone’s restaurants you should definitely still take the time to go to the Villa and see the incredible lookout.
I hope that you enjoyed this Ravello Guide and have a great time exploring the Amalfi Coast!
