I have called Siena my home for the past year and this is how I would spend the perfect 24 hours in Siena.
Every perfect day in Siena starts at Cafe Torrefazione Fiorella. This cafe opens at 7 and I recommend getting there early so you can sit at one of their tables outside. They have the best cappuccinos in town and the tables outside are the perfect place for people-watching.
After breakfast at Cafe Torrefazione Fiorella you should head over to the Duomo to be able to experience it without the crowds. The morning also gives you the perfect opportunity to check out some of Siena’s most beautiful churches. The ones that I would recommend visiting are the Church of Saint Martin and Santa Maria di Provenzano. Some of the biggest churches in Siena are San Francesco and Basilica Cateriniana.
Pastazuf is the perfect place to go for lunch in Siena. They make delicious fresh pasta and it is only 6 euros. My favorite from here is the artichoke carbonara along with the side of sauteed veggies.
Shopping in Siena
After lunch, I would go shopping. Siena has some fantastic shopping. After pastazuf, you can head a few meters up the street and go to Dolci Trame. The store is beautiful and they have the most incredible selection of women’s clothes with so many classic and new brands. Next, you should head to Aloe and Wolf. This is one of the best vintage stores I have ever been to. They have a large selection of both women’s and men’s clothes. This is a designer vintage lover’s paradise. If you especially love vintage shopping you should send them a DM on their website and ask them to book an appointment at their warehouse where they keep all of their pieces. Keep in mind that it is designer vintage so it is on the more expensive side. Mag Boutique is another one of the best stores in Siena. The owner carries many small Italian brands that you probably will only get the chance to try there.
How to End the Perfect Day in Siena
After a fun-filled day of shopping, you should stop at Gelateria Masgalano to get a sweet treat before heading to the fortress before sunset. They have the best gelato in town. I recommend always their flavor of the month or their dark chocolate. The walk to the fortress goes through one of Siena’s most beautiful neighborhoods. The fortress has one of the most beautiful views of the city as well as the Tuscan countryside, especially at sunset.
For dinner, you should check out my Siena restaurant guide here. These are my favorite restaurants in Siena, so you should read them and see which one suits you. All of these restaurants make the perfect end to any night.
I hope that you enjoy this itinerary for how to spend the perfect 24 hours in Siena.
