Are you looking for a hotel to stay at in Key West? On my recent trip to Key West, we stayed at the Marquesa Hotel. The hotel was lovely and very relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to key west.
The Hotel’s Location in Key West
The Marquesa Hotel was located perfectly in central Key West. Nothing was more than a 15-minute walk which made it the ideal location. It was two blocks from Duval Street (the main street in Key West) so we were able to walk everywhere. I would recommend trying to avoid staying right on the main street because it is really loud at night. The hotel has two locations less than a block away from each other.
The Hotel and Service
The service at the hotel was great. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. The hotel has two locations. At the main location, there is a restaurant, breakfast area, and two pools. While the other location is smaller but still has its pool. We stayed in the smaller location and it was great. It was very quiet (except for the roosters in the morning) and having a separate smaller pool was lovely because most of the time it was empty.
The pools were beautiful but at least the one on our property was very warm. Taking a dip during the middle of the day was not refreshing, but a bit of an icky feeling. I stuck to swimming in the morning where the water was a bit cooler. The pools were extremely clean though and many little iguanas and lizards were running around the outside area which was fun to see.
Each morning there was a small breakfast included with the price of the hotel. They had some basic pastries, teas, and some granola and cereal. I don’t think that what they had was enough for a full breakfast but it perfect if you want to start your morning with something small before brunch. I saw someone bring their own yogurt and topped it with the homemade granola to make it a more complete breakfast.
The Room
We stayed in the premium two king. The room was large and had a nice fridge, two closets, and an outside area. The room was perfect and the bathroom was large with a great tub. The only disappointing part of the room was that there was no full-length mirror.
Other Hotels in Key West
If you are looking for a hotel to stay at in Key West I think that the Marquesa is a great place to stay. But if you are looking for something a little more inexpensive, the Kimpton Fitch Lodge looks very compatible at a lower price point. And if you prefer a hotel on the water, The Pier House is a great option. It is a slightly bigger hotel that has a beach and pool bar.
